The following is to serve as a step-by-step guide to help Creatives complete their Project pages on backmywork.com efficiently and effectively:
1. ABOUT YOU
Who are you, and what is your journey?
This section gives you a chance to sell yourself and let the backers see you for who you really are.
Who are you? What inspires your art and creativity? Where do you draw your strengths from?
What setbacks have you experienced? What cool stuff have you done in your line of creativity? What interesting people have you worked with?
Now, you don’t want to write a whole essay on your background; you just want people to have an idea of it, so keep it short but expressive and straightforward. Talk briefly about your passion for your art, when and why you started, and what motivates and inspires you to keep going.
Add media that describes you authentically or describes what you love most.
Remember to be as genuine as possible, but not over the top, so it doesn’t appear forced. You are trying to reach something inside the viewers to help them tap into your passion!
Embed links to your previous works so backers can see what you have previously accomplished.
NB: Please avoid the use of explicit or foul language as well as racial slurs.
2. ABOUT YOUR PROJECT
What is your project about? (Add media)
You are trying to get people to key into an idea that you have, so you need to break it down for them. What exactly are you trying to achieve? Can you spin a story around it that people can resonate with?
If, for example, you want to get funded towards releasing an EP (extended playlist), and this involves everything from the creative process—writing the songs or outsourcing the writing—to recording, paying for studio sessions, mixing, and mastering of the song, an EP listening or release party, sponsored ads, influencer marketing, and all that, you might want to include that in your description.
But hey, don’t just go right into it like it was prewritten; write in such a way that people can see the genuineness in what you are trying to do. What is the EP about? Why is it so special to you? Who inspired the tracks that are going to be on it? Who do you hope to touch with the music? What are you hoping people will gain or feel by listening to it?
Embed links to your previous works so backers can see what you have previously accomplished.
Add media that describes your project visually. It could be an image of you in a recording studio, holding an instrument, or acting on stage, depending on what your project is targeted at.
NB: Please avoid the use of pornographic content, explicit or foul language, and racial slurs.
3. CATEGORY
What category does your art fall in?
Are you a filmmaker, videographer, editor, content creator, musician, singer, actor, writer, etc.? Which of the categories do you think best describes your art? Think about the most appropriate and select it!
4. LOCATION
Where is your project taking place?
Is your project offline or online? What city or country is it going to be in? Tell us all about it!
5. ADD YOUR MAIN PHOTO
Do you have a nice picture, artwork, design, or creative for your campaign? Upload it here!
NB: Please avoid the use of images that contain pornographic content, explicit or foul language, and racial slurs.
6. ADD MORE PHOTOS
Share more cool pictures of yourself or art that depict your love and passion for your art.
NB: Please avoid the use of images that contain pornographic content, explicit or foul language, and racial slurs.
7. ADD YOUR YOUTUBE VIDEO URL
Include the URL to a video of you performing your art here, or to any of your past works.
NB: Please avoid using videos that contain pornographic content, explicit or foul language, or racial slurs.
8. MY FUNDING GOAL
How much are you trying to raise for your project?
Think carefully about your project in steps or stages and how much it would cost to execute each stage successfully. Plan for miscellaneous events and constraints; do some research to plan properly.
Don’t just type in any amount; be sure whatever amount you’re putting in is just right to carry out your project successfully from start to finish.
Know also that a lot of your backers might be experts in your field, so you don’t want to lie about certain costs so as not to chase prospects away. Be truthful and reasonable!
9. FUNDRAISING ENDS
How do you want your campaign to end?
Are you running your campaign by a date or by a goal?
If you are running it by a date, it means you have a stipulated amount of time you wish to use to raise funds, so whether your target fund is met by that date or not, your campaign ends. If your goal is met before the date, your campaign still runs. If your goal is not met by the time the date you chose arrives, your campaign ends.
If you choose to run your campaign by goal, your campaign will end only when you have reached your target goal. This means your campaign will run for as long as it takes to reach your target goal.
10. FUNDRAISING START DATE
When do you want your fundraiser to start?
Be sure to pick a date that is just right and gives you ample time to plan.
11. FUNDRAISING END DATE
When do you want your fundraiser to end?
Be sure to pick a date that is just right and gives you ample time to raise funds.
12. REASONABLE TO SPECIFY A MINIMUM AMOUNT IN EVERY DONATION
What is the minimum amount you want backers to be able to donate at any given time?
This should depend on the type of project you are carrying out. Set a reasonable amount.
Note: There is a recommended minimum amount for all campaigns, but you may choose to go above or below it.
13. ALSO, IT IS REASONABLE TO RECOMMEND A DONATION AMOUNT FOR EVERY DONATION.
What amount do you recommend backers be able to donate at any given time?
This should depend on the type of project you are carrying out. Set a reasonable amount.
14. CONTRIBUTOR ANONYMITY
Anonymous donors?
This allows you to show how much has been donated by each person in a display on the side, so people can keep track of your progress.
Would you like to make visible the names of everyone who has donated to your project, or would you rather they remain anonymous? It’s totally up to you!
15. TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Carefully read through our terms and conditions, accept them, and submit your project!
