Afrobeats singer Jimberg to debut his new EP.

Back My Work had a sit down session with one of our talented creators, a singer, Jimberg, and he let us in on his creative process, his journey through music, his current plans and next music projects.

Q – Tell us a bit about you and your journey through music

A – My name is Fredrick Jimisayo, my friends call me Jimmy, and my stage name is Jimberg.  I’m a singer, songwriter and producer. My music journey started majorly when I got into the university. After a year in Unilag, I moved to China to learn and while doing that, I got a guitar and I joined a band. Later on in 2019, I returned to Nigeria with the sole thought of doing my music and being in the NIgerian industry.

Q – Tell us more about your single ‘WAIT’

A – The story behind ‘Wait’ is beautiful. ‘Wait’ actually started off as a melody that came to my head, I wrote a verse to it and sent it to a few of my friends. After sending it, I didn’t really like the song anymore but I didn’t know my friend sent it to other people, he told me people liked the song.

Q – What was the reception like for ‘WAIT’ upon release?

A – The reception for ‘Wait’ was very good. I wasn’t able to really push the song but I got streams on AudioMack, on Spotify, iTunes, and got a total of about 20,000 Streams.

Q – What are the future plans for your music?

A – The future plans for my music are already in motion. Currently, I am working on my E.P, It consists of five songs.

Q – What message do you hope to pass through this EP?

A – The aim is for these five songs to express Jimberg, every side there is to Jimberg.

I believe you guys are going to hear the Fela side, the Folk side, the Afrobeats side, and the romantic side, I can’t help it. I am a hopeless romantic so it shows in my songs.

Q – Any final words or thoughts you’d like to share?

A – I believe I am going to be the next face of Afrobeats in the world. You guys should look out for me, I am coming! So that’s my story and this is Jimberg, I am a legend and I know my stuff.
