My parents named me Rebecca Ayomide Fasedu but my friends call me Mide Fash. I am an artiste from Kogi state and a student of the University Of Lagos. I am an Afro-soul/ R’n’b/ Afro-pop singer, guitarist, a prolific writer and spoken word poet making magic in the convergence between art, entertainment and business, inspired by love, chaos, and everything between fairytales and harsh realities.
I started performing poetry officially in 2018 and released my first spoken word video in 2020, called ‘A reminder’- it is a piece about equal rights for men and women. My second spoken word piece ‘Love is waiting’ was released in 2021. It is a poem about love, but the kind you give to yourself. I see it as a letter to my unborn daughter. I performed it on the TVC wake-up Naija show, and Channels Book show in 2021. I was the Best Essayist at Saint Saint Titus Initiative, 2017, Best Performer, Kulture Fest, 2018, NAYLL’s (National Association of Youth Leadership League)Writer of the year (Romance Category) 2019, Best spoken word performance, Felicity 2.0, 2021, and was one of the slam poets to grace the stage of the Lagos International Poetry festival.
Erotic literature is one of my strongest fortes. I have an erotic poetry collection titled Love and Sin and I am working on a chapbook.

I also make really amazing music and I have been exploring music recently. I am actively learning music production and sound engineering so that later in life, I can make some of my own music.
I was featured on the most recent Black Magic album called ‘The invitation’ and I made magic on that track, I took the chorus and it is an amazing piece of art, A ball of amazement.
About The Project
The project I am seeking funding for is a body of work titled ‘Wildfire and chocolate toppings’. It is an extended playlist with five tracks, the very first of its kind. This project is not like anything that has ever been made in the Nigerian music scene because it has a very unique perspective.
It is a fusion of different genres of music with poetry in a delicious way and will consist three songs and two poems.
This EP is my way of expressing where I have been and how my experiences have shaped me. It also features my rather chaotic love life. It is me in different forms. I intend on releasing a single from it sometime in April.
I started this project because I have something to say, something you should hear. It is very important to me because I was at a point in my life where I looked up and constantly saw rock bottom. I was in so much emotional pain and all decided to give my metaphors a chance to heal me. This project saved me, writing it took me out of my depression, made me feel a spark again and I strongly believe that it will be a source of joy to my audience when it is done.
Quality music production and sound engineering is the backbone of good music. I am seeking funding to make the songs in a studio with quality equipments that can make my songs memorable, and evergreen.Funds are also needed for digital and social media marketing to give more people access to the sound. This entails sponsored ads running on Instagram and other social media platforms for at least 30 days. The estimate is a minimum of but not limited to #800,000 (eight hundred thousand naira). 40% of the funds would be allocated to the music production and the sound engineering, 15% would go to acoustic sessions and the remaining 45% would go to promotion on social media, influencers marketing, and music streaming platforms.
I believe that my art is distinctive and is something worth investing in.
