My name is Michael Okolie Chiegosigom Melchizedek, and my stage name is PANDA.

I’m an indie filmmaker and a media entrepreneur, an award-winning on-air personality, and the founder of an award-winning brand called Panda Media. I’m a lover of entertainment in general.

I have a strong affection for change, hence my specialization in advocacy filmmaking. My journey in the creative industry started when I was in primary school, which eventually made me the head boy. However, it became clearer to me that I wanted to become an entertainer when I would act in various church dramas, making my audience laugh and keeping them entertained.

 

Nollywood was one of my biggest inspirations while growing up and I had a soft spot for them. Sometimes I imagined myself acting and tried to play certain characters or mimic them. I was very limited in my creativity because my parents were very strict disciplinarians and were more interested in my academic pursuits. My talents remained largely unexplored at the time.

 

I started off as a radio presenter in Covenant university (HEBRON FM) where I was in charge of the sports program. Subsequently, I became very active in the theatre group and began to discover other hidden talents. In the course of that discovery, I met some talented individuals who also pushed me to do more.

In 2017, I founded Panda Media Entertainment, my own entertainment company and in 2019 we shot our very first short film titled The Convict .

About The Project

My project is a limited series on rape and abortion titled “DUMEBI.” It is a web series on sex for grades 5-8.

I intend to use the funds to purchase production equipment, which costs about 1.5 million naira.
